The Dornenglanz X (OX) is a long pips rubber designed specifically for disruptive play close to the table. It’s ideal for players looking for a long pimple with flexible, quickly bending pips that allow for aggressive hitting and active interference. Unlike the original Dornenglanz, the Dornenglanz X does not offer a particularly high disruptive effect in passive play. Simply holding out the racket won’t be enough to win easy points. With the Dornenglanz X (OX), you can either keep the ball safely in play with high consistency or take the initiative to attack and pressure your opponent—creating opportunities to bring your stronger forehand into play. When under pressure, chop blocks are significantly more effective than passive blocks. However, passive blocks are still possible in a pinch and produce a low, flat trajectory. Defensive backspin play (classic chopping) is occasionally possible with the Dornenglanz X (OX), but it’s not intended to be a central element of your game plan.
